Common questions about the Ava DuVernay Pop! Directors from Funko (2021).
The answers below are provided by contributors and may not be fully accurate. Verify important details before relying on them.
The Ava DuVernay Pop! Directors figure is not considered rare. It is a standard mass-production release from the 2021 Directors series, meaning it was widely available and is not a limited edition or exclusive variant.
The value of the 2021 Ava DuVernay Funko Pop! Directors figure varies significantly based on its condition and whether it is sealed in its original box. As a standard retail release, an unopened copy typically trades for around its original retail price, while a loose figure is generally worth less. Because this is not a limited edition or exclusive item, it does not command a premium in the secondary market, and prices fluctuate based on current collector demand.
Authenticating a specific 2021 Funko Pop! figure without physical inspection is not possible, as counterfeiters frequently replicate popular items. To verify your figure, check for consistent paint application, sharp molding details, and the correct Funko logo on the base, while comparing it against high-resolution images of verified authentic examples. If the figure has significant defects, off-brand packaging, or a missing SKU, it may be a replica, and consulting a professional authentication service is recommended for a definitive assessment.

Funko has discontinued the Ava DuVernay Pop! Directors figure, so it is no longer in print or available to buy new from the manufacturer. You can only find this item through third-party resellers, secondary markets, or private collectors, where prices may vary significantly based on condition and availability.
Condition-checking a Funko Pop! figure primarily involves inspecting the vinyl head and body for manufacturing defects such as paint overspray, misaligned eyes, or seams, as well as checking the plastic box for scratches, dents, or fading. For a formal grade, you would need to submit the figure to a third-party grading service like PSA, which evaluates the item based on specific criteria including color, paint, and structural integrity, though this is generally more common for rare variants than standard releases.
