Common questions about the Blacklight Buccaneers Pop! [Fantastik Plastik] Funko Special-Edition (SE) from Funko (2024).
The answers below are provided by contributors and may not be fully accurate. Verify important details before relying on them.
The Blacklight Buccaneers Pop! [Fantastik Plastik] is not considered rare because it was a standard retail release available at major stores in 2024, rather than a limited production run. While the blacklight vinyl finish makes it a distinct variant, its wide availability means it does not carry the scarcity premium associated with exclusive or limited-edition figures.
The Blacklight Buccaneers Pop! [Fantastik Plastik] Funko Special-Edition is a 2024 release, and its value is primarily determined by its original retail price, which was typically around $12.99 to $14.99. As a recent special edition, it does not yet have a significant secondary market premium, and its value generally remains at or near retail unless it is sold in its original, unopened packaging.
To authenticate your Blacklight Buccaneers Pop!, verify that the packaging displays the official Funko logo, the specific "Fantastik Plastik" branding, and a scannable QR code that links to Funko's official product database. Examine the vinyl figure for consistent paint application, proper seam placement, and the correct blacklight-reactive finish on the designated areas, as counterfeit items often feature duller colors or misaligned details. If the box lacks a holographic security sticker or the QR code does not resolve to the correct 2024 Special Edition listing, the item is likely a replica.

Condition-checking this figure involves inspecting the vinyl for the specific blacklight-reactive paint finish, ensuring the glow is uniform and free of scratches or scuffs that would diminish its effect under UV light. You should also verify that the figure is securely seated in its base and that the packaging, if present, is free of creases, tears, or seal damage, as these factors significantly impact resale value. For a formal grade, you can submit the item to a third-party grading service like PSA, which will encapsulate it and assign a numerical score based on its physical condition.
