The answers below are provided by contributors and may not be fully accurate. Verify important details before relying on them.
No, the Buddy Elf (with Raccoon) Pop! Vinyl is not considered rare. It is a standard production item from the 2018 release of the *Elf* movie line and was widely available through major retailers. While specific variants like Chased or Exclusive editions may be harder to find, the standard SKU 638 is a common collectible that remains readily accessible on the secondary market.
The retail value for a new-in-box Funko Pop! Buddy Elf (with Raccoon) #638 is typically between $12 and $15, which is the standard price point for most standard-sized Funko figures. Because this is a common, mass-produced item from 2018, it does not command a significant premium in the secondary market, and used copies generally sell for less than the original retail price.
To authenticate your Funko Pop! Buddy Elf (with Raccoon), verify that the box displays the correct SKU number 638 and the 2018 release year, and check that the figure itself has the standard Funko logo on the base. Examine the paint application for consistency, ensuring there are no significant air bubbles, misaligned eyes, or rough seams that would indicate a counterfeit. While Funko has not issued a specific recall for this item, you can confirm authenticity by comparing the packaging details and figure proportions against official Funko product images or by consulting a certified authentication service if you have specific concerns about the item's origin.
The Buddy Elf (with Raccoon) Pop! Movies was released in 2018 by Funko.
Funko has discontinued the Buddy Elf (with Raccoon) Pop! Movies figure, so it is no longer in print and cannot be purchased new directly from the manufacturer. While it may occasionally appear on the secondary market, it is generally considered a discontinued item for collectors.
Condition-checking a Funko Pop! involves inspecting the vinyl figure for paint errors, scratches, or molding defects and verifying that the box is free of significant damage, as these factors heavily influence value. For formal grading, you can submit the item to third-party authentication services like PSA, which will assign a numerical grade based on the condition of both the figure and its packaging. Keep in mind that most standard retail Funko Pops are not typically graded by major agencies, so a detailed visual inspection is usually sufficient for determining market value.
