Common questions about the Buzz Lightyear (Diamond) Pop! Disney from Funko.
The answers below are provided by contributors and may not be fully accurate. Verify important details before relying on them.
The Buzz Lightyear (Diamond) Pop! is not considered a rare item. It is a standard production figure from the Diamond Collection line, which is widely available through major retailers and Funko's own store. Because it is not a limited edition or exclusive release, its value is typically determined by its condition and market demand for standard merchandise rather than scarcity.
The value of the Buzz Lightyear (Diamond) Pop! Disney (SKU 523) fluctuates based on market demand and condition, but it typically sells for between $15 and $25 in retail or secondary markets. As a standard Diamond Edition figure, it does not command a premium over regular production runs unless it is part of a sealed set or has significant collector demand. For the most accurate current pricing, checking recent completed sales on platforms like eBay is recommended.
To authenticate your Funko Pop! #523 Buzz Lightyear (Diamond), first verify that the packaging is sealed with the correct holographic sticker and that the box features the official Funko logo and copyright information. Examine the vinyl figure for consistent paint application, sharp sculpting details, and the correct diamond finish, as counterfeits often exhibit blurry features or uneven coloring. Check the bottom of the figure for a clear, molded "Funko" logo and the specific SKU number, and compare the item against high-resolution images from the official Funko website or reputable retailer listings to ensure all design elements match.
I cannot find reliable information confirming the specific release date for the Buzz Lightyear (Diamond) Pop! Disney figure with SKU 523. While Funko regularly produces Diamond series variants, exact release dates for specific SKUs are often not consistently documented in public records.
Funko has discontinued the production of the Buzz Lightyear (Diamond) Pop! Disney figure, meaning it is no longer in print. Consequently, you cannot purchase a new, factory-sealed copy directly from Funko or major retail partners. The figure is now only available through the secondary market, such as online resale platforms, where prices and condition vary significantly.
To condition-check a Funko Pop! figure, you should inspect the vinyl for surface scratches, paint chips, or mold lines, and verify that the eyes are properly aligned and free of cloudiness. For the Diamond variant specifically, check the base and any attached diamond accents for signs of wear, discoloration, or loose components, as these are common points of damage. If you are seeking a formal grade for resale or insurance purposes, you must submit the figure to a professional third-party grading service such as PSA, which will assign a numerical score based on standardized criteria.
