Common questions about the Captain Rex from Sideshow Collectibles (2014).
The answers below are provided by contributors and may not be fully accurate. Verify important details before relying on them.
The Sideshow Collectibles Captain Rex figure released in 2014 is not considered rare in the current market. It was a standard production item with a relatively high initial print run, meaning it is widely available from secondary sellers and often trades below its original retail price. While specific variants or limited editions might command higher premiums, the standard SKU 710532 is a common collectible that does not possess significant scarcity value.
The Captain Rex originally retailed for $169.99. Live secondary-market data isn't indexed yet — check eBay sold listings for current value.
Sideshow Collectibles does not manufacture a standard 1/6 scale Captain Rex figure with SKU 710532, as this specific product code does not correspond to a known release from that manufacturer in 2014. Because the item description contains conflicting data, you cannot authenticate it as a genuine Sideshow product based on that SKU alone. I recommend verifying the manufacturer and model number against the original packaging or contacting Sideshow directly, as the figure may be from a different company or a mislabeled item.
The Captain Rex was released in 2014 by Sideshow Collectibles.
Sideshow Collectibles has discontinued the 2014 Captain Rex statue, so it is no longer in print or available for purchase directly from the manufacturer. This item is now considered out of production and can only be found on the secondary market through third-party resellers or collectors.
To condition-check a Sideshow Captain Rex figure, inspect the paint for chipping, fading, or scratches, paying close attention to high-wear areas like the helmet, blaster, and boots. Examine the sculpt for stress fractures, particularly around the joints and base, and verify that the eyes are clear and free of clouding. Assess the overall structural integrity by checking for loose parts or cracks in the plastic, noting that any damage to the paint or sculpt will significantly impact its market value.
