Common questions about the Dark Leonardo Pop! Comics from Funko (2023).
The answers below are provided by contributors and may not be fully accurate. Verify important details before relying on them.
No, the Dark Leonardo Pop! Comics is not considered rare. It is a standard production figure released in 2023 as part of a widely distributed series, meaning it was available for purchase through major retailers and is not a limited edition or exclusive variant.
The Dark Leonardo Pop! Comics figure from the 2023 release typically retails for approximately $12.99 to $14.99 when new in box. As a standard production item from a recent year, it generally does not command a significant premium over its original retail price on the secondary market, with used copies often selling for less than $10.
There is no widely recognized "Dark Leonardo" character in the standard *Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles* canon that would typically appear in a 2023 Funko Pop! Comics series, suggesting the item name may be a misidentification, a custom third-party creation, or a confusion with a specific variant like a "Dark" themed exclusive. To authenticate a genuine Funko Pop, verify that the figure has the official Funko logo on the base, check for the specific SKU number printed on the box (which should match the manufacturer's catalog), and inspect the paint quality and plastic molding for the high consistency typical of factory-produced items. If the figure lacks these standard manufacturing markers or the character does not align with official licensed releases, it is likely a counterfeit or an unauthorized fan-made product.
The Dark Leonardo Pop! Comics was released in 2023 by Funko.
Funko does not publicly disclose real-time inventory levels or definitive discontinuation dates for specific Pop! Comics figures. While the Dark Leonardo (SKU 38) was released in 2023, availability for new purchases fluctuates based on retailer stock and production runs. I cannot confirm with certainty whether this specific item is currently in print without access to live inventory data.
Condition-checking a Funko Pop! figure involves inspecting the vinyl for surface imperfections such as scratches, scuffs, or paint flaws, and verifying that the eyes are aligned and free of debris. For the Dark Leonardo Pop! Comics, specifically, you should also examine the printed comic book base for creases, tears, or fading, as this component is often the first to show wear. If you are seeking a formal grade for resale, you can submit the figure to a third-party grading service, though most collectors simply assess the item visually against a "mint" standard.
