The answers below are provided by contributors and may not be fully accurate. Verify important details before relying on them.
No, the Dr. Egon Spengler Pop! Movies figure (SKU 743) is not considered rare. It is a standard production item released in 2019 as part of the Ghostbusters line and was widely available through major retailers. Because it was not a limited edition or exclusive variant, it is generally easy to find in both new and used condition.
The Dr. Egon Spengler Pop! Movies figure (SKU 743) typically retails for approximately $12.99, which serves as the baseline value for new, sealed copies. Used figures in good condition generally trade for less, often between $5 and $10, depending on the specific marketplace and demand. As a standard release from the 2019 Ghostbusters line, it is not considered a rare collectible, so its value remains closely tied to its original retail price.
To authenticate your Funko Pop! Dr. Egon Spengler (SKU 743), first verify that the box is sealed with the standard shrink wrap and that the figure inside matches the official 2019 release specifications, including the correct color scheme and accessories. Check the bottom of the figure for the molded "Funko" logo and the SKU number, which should be clearly legible and consistent with the box label. Be aware that this specific character was also released in a 2024 "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire" wave, so if your figure features a different pose, outfit, or box art, it may be a newer variant rather than the 2019 original. If the packaging or figure quality seems off, compare it against high-resolution images from the official Funko website or reputable collector communities to identify discrepancies.
The Dr. Egon Spengler Pop! Movies was released in 2019 by Funko.
Funko has discontinued the Dr. Egon Spengler Pop! Movies figure (SKU 743), so it is no longer in print and cannot be purchased new from the manufacturer. While it may occasionally appear as a third-party "new" listing on secondary marketplaces, these are typically used items or unauthorized imports, and the figure is generally only available through the resale market.
You can grade this figure through major third-party services like PSA, CGC, or Beckett, which will assign a numerical score based on specific criteria such as paint application, molding, and packaging condition. For a self-condition check, inspect the vinyl for scratches, paint chips, or molding seams, and verify that the box is free of dents, tears, or significant wear. Note that while the figure itself is the primary collectible, the condition of the original packaging significantly impacts its market value.
