Common questions about the Holiday Barbie 1988 Pop! Retro Toys from Funko (2020).
The answers below are provided by contributors and may not be fully accurate. Verify important details before relying on them.
The Holiday Barbie 1988 Pop! Retro Toys is not considered a limited edition, as it was part of Funko’s standard retail line rather than a numbered or exclusive release. While it is a discontinued item from the 2020 holiday season, its common production run means it is generally accessible to collectors. Rarity is low compared to special editions, making it a standard collectible rather than a scarce find.
The 2020 Funko Pop! Retro Toys Holiday Barbie 1988 (SKU 08) is a mass-produced vinyl figure, so its value is primarily determined by condition and whether it is still in the original box. In retail condition, it typically trades for around $10 to $15, while a sealed, unopened box can command a premium of $20 to $30 depending on the seller. Because this is a common release from a popular retro line, it is not considered a rare collectible, and prices fluctuate based on current market demand rather than scarcity.
To authenticate your 2020 Funko Holiday Barbie 1988 Pop!, first verify the packaging for the correct "Retro Toys" series branding and the specific SKU 08. Inspect the figure itself for the characteristic vinyl sheen, precise paint application, and the embossed "Funko" logo on the base. Check that the eyes are the standard black plastic with white highlights, and ensure the holiday-themed dress and accessories match the official product images. If the box is missing or damaged, compare the figure's proportions and color accuracy against known genuine examples, as counterfeiters often get these details wrong.

The Holiday Barbie 1988 Pop! Retro Toys figure is generally considered out of print, as Funko typically retires retro toy lines after a limited production run. While you may occasionally find new stock at major retailers or on secondary marketplaces, availability is inconsistent and often commands a premium price.
To condition-check a Funko Holiday Barbie 1988 Pop!, first inspect the vinyl for surface imperfections like scratches, dents, or paint chips, paying close attention to the hair, dress, and accessories. Verify that the figure is fully seated in its base without gaps, and check the box for wear, fading, or damage to the window. For a formal grade, send the item to a third-party grading service like PSA or Beckett, which will assign a numerical score based on the figure's overall preservation and completeness.
