Common questions about the Jackie Robinson Pop! Sports Legends from Funko.
The answers below are provided by contributors and may not be fully accurate. Verify important details before relying on them.
No, the Jackie Robinson Pop! Sports Legends figure is not considered rare. It is a standard production item that was widely distributed through major retailers and Funko's own channels, making it relatively easy to find in new condition. While specific variants like Chase or Exclusive editions may be harder to locate, the base figure remains a common collectible.
The value of a Jackie Robinson Pop! Sports Legends figure varies significantly based on its condition, packaging, and current market demand. As a standard production item, it typically trades for a modest price, often ranging from $10 to $25, though specific pricing can fluctuate on secondary markets. For the most accurate and up-to-date valuation, checking recent completed sales on platforms like eBay is recommended.
To authenticate your Jackie Robinson Pop! Sports Legends figure, first verify that the box is sealed with the official Funko shrink wrap and that the figure itself features the standard matte finish and consistent paint application typical of the brand. Check the bottom of the figure for the molded "Funko" logo and ensure the packaging includes a valid UPC and copyright information. If the figure appears glossy, has uneven seams, or lacks these specific manufacturing details, it is likely a counterfeit. For definitive confirmation, you can consult Funko’s official authentication resources or compare your item against verified images from reputable secondary marketplaces.
Funko does not publicly list specific release dates for individual Pop! figures in their official records, so the exact release date for the Jackie Robinson Pop! Sports Legends (SKU 42) cannot be confirmed with certainty. While the Sports Legends series launched in 2018, precise timing for this specific figure is not reliably documented in available public sources.
Funko has discontinued the Jackie Robinson Pop! Sports Legends figure, so it is no longer in print and cannot be purchased new from the manufacturer. This item is now considered out of print, meaning availability is limited to the secondary market where prices are often significantly higher than the original retail value.
To grade a Jackie Robinson Pop! Sports Legends figure, you should submit it to a professional third-party grading service such as PSA, CGC, or Beckett, which will evaluate the figure's condition and assign a numerical score. For a basic condition check, inspect the vinyl for scratches, paint chips, and discoloration, and ensure the figure is securely seated in its original box with the window intact. If the figure is still in its original packaging, verify that the box is free of dents, tears, or significant wear, as these factors significantly impact its value.
