The LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2012 (set 9509) is not considered rare in the secondary market. Its value is primarily driven by its status as a discontinued holiday item rather than low production numbers.

To authenticate your LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar 2012 (set 9509), first verify that the box is a standard LEGO advent calendar format with the correct LEGO logo and set number 9509 printed on the packaging. Check that the plastic pieces are made of ABS with the characteristic LEGO "LEGO" stamp on the underside of the bricks, and confirm that the included minifigures and accessories match the official 2012 lineup. If the box shows signs of tampering, or if the plastic feels brittle, has an off-white or yellowed tint, or lacks the proper molding quality, the item may be a reproduction or damaged. For definitive authentication, compare the set against the official LEGO product images and, if necessary, consult a certified LEGO expert or use the LEGO Customer Service verification process for high-value or questionable items.

LEGO does not use a standardized numerical grading scale for advent calendars, so condition is typically assessed by checking for missing minifigures, broken or faded plastic, and the integrity of the box. For the 2012 Star Wars calendar (SKU 9509), you should verify that all 24 daily compartments open and close smoothly and that the included minifigures and vehicles are complete and free of significant wear. If the box is present, check for dents, tears, or water damage, as the box significantly affects collectible value.
