Common questions about the Luke Skywalker Deluxe from Sideshow Collectibles.
The answers below are provided by contributors and may not be fully accurate. Verify important details before relying on them.
The Luke Skywalker Deluxe figure from Sideshow Collectibles is not considered rare, as it was a standard retail release available through major hobby shops and online retailers. While specific production numbers are not always publicly disclosed by Sideshow, this item was part of a widely distributed line and is generally accessible in the secondary market.
The Luke Skywalker Deluxe originally retailed for $235.00. Live secondary-market data isn't indexed yet — check eBay sold listings for current value.
Sideshow Collectibles does not publish a specific authentication protocol for individual retail units, so there is no official method to verify a single figure's authenticity beyond checking for standard quality control markers. You should examine the packaging for the correct Sideshow logo, the specific SKU 697209, and the manufacturer's address, while inspecting the figure itself for consistent paint application, sharp sculpting details, and proper articulation. If the item was purchased from an authorized retailer, it is considered genuine; for high-value transactions, consulting a third-party grading service like PSA or Beckett is the most reliable way to obtain a verified authentication certificate.
Sideshow Collectibles released the Luke Skywalker Deluxe 1/4 scale statue in 2023. It was part of their Star Wars: A New Hope collection, specifically accompanying the release of the film's 40th anniversary commemorative figures.
Sideshow Collectibles has discontinued the production of the Luke Skywalker Deluxe figure, meaning it is no longer available to purchase new directly from the manufacturer. Because the item is out of print, new copies are generally only accessible through the secondary market, such as online resale platforms or hobby shops, where prices may fluctuate based on condition and demand.
Sideshow Collectibles does not provide a grading service for their products, so you should evaluate the condition yourself by inspecting the figure for paint chips, stress fractures, or loose joints. Check the packaging for any signs of damage, as the original box is often required for resale value. For a formal third-party assessment, you can submit the item to a recognized grading company like PSA, though this is typically reserved for high-value collectibles.
