Common questions about the Mario Lemieux Pop! Hockey from Funko (2019).
The answers below are provided by contributors and may not be fully accurate. Verify important details before relying on them.
No, the Mario Lemieux Pop! Hockey figure is not considered rare. It is a standard production item released in 2019 and remains widely available in the secondary market, meaning it does not carry the scarcity premium associated with limited edition or exclusive variants.
The value of a Mario Lemieux Funko Pop! (Hockey #49) varies significantly based on condition, with unopened figures typically retailing between $10 and $20. Because this is a standard production release from 2019 rather than a limited edition, it does not generally command a premium above its original retail price in the secondary market. Prices can fluctuate slightly depending on current demand and the specific platform, such as eBay or local collectibles shops.
To authenticate your 2019 Mario Lemieux Pop! Hockey (SKU 49), verify that the figure is made of solid vinyl with a smooth, uniform finish and that the paint application is clean without significant bleeding or gaps. Check the base for a clear, legible "Funko" logo and the specific SKU number, and ensure the packaging (if present) features the standard Funko branding and holographic sticker. Since Funko does not issue individual certificates of authenticity for standard production figures, the most reliable method for high-value items is to have the figure authenticated by a third-party grading service such as PSA, which will verify the manufacturer's markings and overall condition.
The Mario Lemieux Pop! Hockey was released in 2019 by Funko.
Funko has discontinued the Mario Lemieux Pop! Hockey figure, so it is no longer in print. You will not be able to purchase a new, sealed copy directly from Funko or major retail partners. The figure is currently only available through the secondary market, such as online resale platforms, where prices may vary based on condition and demand.
You can grade a Mario Lemieux Pop! Hockey figure by submitting it to a third-party grading service such as PSA, which will assign a numerical score from 1 to 10 based on factors like paint condition, molding, and packaging integrity. For a quick condition check without professional grading, inspect the figure for common defects such as paint chips, seam lines, or "angel eyes" (white rings around the eyes), and verify that the original box is free of significant damage or wear.
