Common questions about the Mia Hamm Pop! Sports Legends from Funko.
The answers below are provided by contributors and may not be fully accurate. Verify important details before relying on them.
No, the Mia Hamm Pop! Sports Legends figure is not considered rare. It is a standard production item from Funko's Sports Legends line and was widely available through major retailers and online marketplaces. While specific production numbers are not publicly disclosed, it does not carry the limited-edition status or scarcity associated with exclusive or chase variants.
The value of a Mia Hamm Pop! Sports Legends figure varies significantly based on condition, whether it is sealed in the box, and current market demand. As a standard production item from a major manufacturer, it typically sells for a modest price in the secondary market, often ranging from a few dollars to slightly above its original retail price. Because collectible values fluctuate, checking recent completed sales on platforms like eBay is the most reliable way to determine its current worth.
To authenticate your Mia Hamm Pop! Sports Legends figure, first verify that the box displays the official Funko logo and the specific SKU number 12 on the back panel. Inspect the figure itself for consistent paint application, sharp sculpting details, and the correct character likeness, as counterfeit items often exhibit blurry printing or poor plastic quality. You can also cross-reference the item against official Funko product images and check for the presence of a holographic authenticity sticker on the box, which is standard for genuine releases.
The Mia Hamm Pop! Sports Legends figure was released in 2018 as part of the initial wave of the Sports Legends series. This specific figure, identified by SKU 12, was one of the first releases in the line, which debuted in early 2018.
Funko has discontinued the Mia Hamm Pop! Sports Legends figure, meaning it is no longer in print and cannot be purchased new from the manufacturer. This item is now considered out of print, so availability is limited to the secondary market where prices are typically higher than the original retail value.
Condition-checking a Mia Hamm Pop! Sports Legends figure involves inspecting the vinyl for common defects such as paint overspray, chipped edges, or "flash" (excess plastic) on the seams. You should also verify that the eyes are properly aligned and that the figure stands upright without wobbling, as the base is integral to the design. While third-party grading services exist for collectibles, most casual collectors and resellers rely on detailed photographs of these specific flaws to determine the item's market value and condition.
