It is not possible to definitively authenticate a specific physical item as "real" or "fake" without a physical inspection of the product, as counterfeiters can replicate packaging and basic features. To verify authenticity, you should examine the Hot Toys logo on the base and accessories for crisp, clean molding, check that the paint application is consistent without bleeding, and ensure the articulation points feel solid and precise. Additionally, verify that the MPN MMS475 matches the official product listing on the Hot Toys website and that the packaging includes the correct copyright dates and safety warnings for the 2018 release. If the figure exhibits poor paint quality, loose joints, or misspelled text, it is likely a counterfeit.

To grade the Hot Toys MMS 475 Groot, inspect the vinyl surface for hairline cracks, stress marks, or discoloration, paying close attention to the joints and the base of the plant stem. Check the articulation points for looseness and verify that the interchangeable face parts fit securely without gaps. Since this is a 2018 release, look for signs of UV fading on the green foliage and ensure the included accessories and display stand are free from scuffs or missing pieces. For a formal grade, submit the figure to a third-party authentication service like PSA or Beckett, as there is no standardized public grading scale for this specific collectible.
