Common questions about the MMS 89 Gorilla Captain from Hot Toys (20-Jan-09).
The answers below are provided by contributors and may not be fully accurate. Verify important details before relying on them.
The MMS 89 Gorilla Captain is not considered a rare collectible, as it was a standard production figure released by Hot Toys in January 2009. Being part of the widely available Monster Movie Series, it was manufactured in sufficient quantities for the general market and does not possess the limited-run status that typically drives high rarity.
The MMS 89 Gorilla Captain is a vintage Hot Toys figure from the 2009 Monster Masters series, and its value is highly dependent on condition, packaging, and completeness. Because this is a niche collectible with limited secondary market data, there is no single fixed price, but similar Hot Toys figures from that era typically range from $15 to $50 in loose condition if the market is active. I cannot provide a precise current market value without access to real-time sales data, so I recommend checking recent completed listings on eBay for the most accurate estimate.
The MMS 89 Gorilla Captain is not a Hot Toys product, as Hot Toys specializes in high-end 1/6th scale collectible figures and does not manufacture the MMS line. The MMS series is a line of 1/12th scale action figures produced by the Japanese manufacturer Mega House, which began releasing products in the early 2000s. To authenticate your figure, you should look for Mega House branding and packaging rather than Hot Toys logos, and verify the specific release details against Mega House's catalog for that era.
The MMS 89 Gorilla Captain was released in 20-Jan-09 by Hot Toys.
The Hot Toys MMS 89 Gorilla Captain is a vintage collectible from 2009 and is no longer in print. It is not available to purchase new from the manufacturer, and current availability is limited to the secondary market through third-party resellers.
I cannot find reliable information on a Hot Toys product with the MPN MMS89 or a "Gorilla Captain" figure from January 2009. The MPN format MMS89 is typically associated with Mattel's Monster High line, not Hot Toys, which usually uses alphanumeric codes starting with HT. You should verify the manufacturer and model number, as the item description appears to contain conflicting details that prevent accurate grading guidance.
