No, this figure is not considered rare. It was a standard retail release from 2016 and was widely available in stores, meaning it is not a limited edition or exclusive variant. Consequently, it is generally easy to find in new or used condition and does not command a significant premium over its original retail price.
The retail value for the Newt Scamander (Briefcase) Pop! from the Fantastic Beasts line is typically around $12.00 to $15.00. To authenticate your Newt Scamander (Briefcase) Pop!, first verify that the figure is made of vinyl with a matte finish and that the paint application is clean without significant bleeding or overspray. Check the base for the embossed Funko logo and ensure the character's sculpting matches the official 2016 release, particularly the details on the briefcase and clothing. While Funko does not include unique serial numbers on standard Pop! figures, you can compare the item against high-resolution images from the manufacturer's official catalog or reputable collector databases to confirm the correct colorways and proportions. If the figure appears to be a third-party reproduction, it may have a glossy finish, poor paint quality, or incorrect proportions compared to the genuine article.

Funko has discontinued the Newt Scamander (Briefcase) Pop! from the Fantastic Beasts line, so it is no longer in print. Condition-checking a Funko Pop! involves inspecting the figure for common defects such as paint overspray, molding seams, or hairline cracks, with particular attention to the briefcase accessory to ensure the latch and hinges are intact and the surface is free of scuffs. Verify that the head and body are properly aligned and that the eyes are clean, as these areas are prone to wear. For a formal grade, you would need to submit the figure to a third-party grading service like PSA, which will assign a numerical score based on a standardized rubric for color, clarity, and structural integrity.
