Common questions about the Rafiki and Simba (Flocked) Pop! Disney from Funko (2017).
The answers below are provided by contributors and may not be fully accurate. Verify important details before relying on them.
The Rafiki and Simba (Flocked) Pop! Disney (SKU 301) is not considered rare. It was a standard production release from 2017, and flocked variants of this figure are relatively common in the secondary market. While flocked figures can be slightly less common than standard vinyl, they are still widely available and not classified as rare collectibles.
The value of the 2017 Rafiki and Simba (Flocked) Pop! (SKU 301) varies significantly based on condition and market demand, but it is generally considered a mid-range collectible rather than a high-value item. In mint condition with the original box, it typically trades in the range of $30 to $60, while loose figures in good condition usually sell for $15 to $30. Because flocked variants are less common than standard editions, they command a slight premium over regular figures, but they do not typically reach the price points of rare or limited-edition items.
To authenticate your 2017 Rafiki and Simba (Flocked) Pop! (SKU 301), first verify the box seal is intact and check that the plastic figures have the correct flocked texture and accurate paint application. Inspect the base for the embossed "Funko" logo and ensure the SKU 301 is printed clearly on the box. Compare the figures against official Funko reference images for correct proportions and details, and check for common counterfeits such as poor molding, mismatched colors, or missing flocked texture. If the box or figures show signs of tampering, inconsistent font on the label, or a different SKU, the item may be a replica.

To condition-check this figure, inspect the flocked surface for dust, scuffs, or missing texture, as the flocking is particularly susceptible to wear and staining. Verify that the paint on both Rafiki and Simba is intact, checking specifically for chipping on edges or fading on the flocked areas. Examine the base for cracks or loose parts, and ensure the figures are securely attached if they are a two-pack. Since flocked items are harder to clean without damaging the texture, any visible dirt or discoloration should be noted as a deduction in overall grade.
