Common questions about the Spy Gru Pop! Movies from Funko (2017).
The answers below are provided by contributors and may not be fully accurate. Verify important details before relying on them.
No, the Spy Gru Pop! Movies figure is not considered rare. It was a standard mass-production release from the 2017 *Despicable Me* franchise line, meaning it was widely available in retail stores and online marketplaces at the time of its release. While sealed copies in mint condition may command a higher price today due to age, the figure itself is common and easily found in the secondary market.
The value of the 2017 Funko Pop! Movies Spy Gru (SKU 421) varies significantly based on its condition and whether it is sealed in its original box. As a common release from a major franchise, the unopened retail price typically ranges from $10 to $20, while loose figures generally sell for less. Prices for this specific item are stable and do not command a premium over its original retail cost in the current secondary market.
To authenticate your Funko Pop! Movies Spy Gru (SKU 421), first verify that the box is sealed with the correct 2017 release information and that the figure itself has the standard Funko logo on the base. Inspect the vinyl for consistent paint application, sharp sculpting details, and the absence of mold lines, as counterfeit figures often exhibit sloppy painting or off-color eyes. You can also cross-reference the SKU and product details against Funko’s official catalog or reputable secondary market listings to ensure the packaging matches the legitimate 2017 release. If the figure feels unusually light, has a rough texture, or lacks the proper copyright markings on the base, it is likely a counterfeit.

There is no standardized third-party grading service specifically for Spy Gru Pop! Movies figures, so you should inspect the vinyl surface for common defects such as paint transfer, molding seams, or scratches. Check the eyes for proper alignment and clarity, and ensure the packaging is intact if you are evaluating the item as a sealed product. Since these figures are mass-produced, condition is typically assessed visually by collectors rather than through a formal grading scale.
