Common questions about the Wayne Gretzky Pop! Hockey from Funko.
The answers below are provided by contributors and may not be fully accurate. Verify important details before relying on them.
The Wayne Gretzky Pop! Hockey figure is not considered rare, as it was part of a standard production run released by Funko. It is widely available in the secondary market and is generally regarded as a common item for collectors.
The value of a Wayne Gretzky Funko Pop! Hockey figure (SKU 32) varies significantly based on condition, packaging, and market demand, typically ranging from approximately $15 to $40 for a standard sealed box. Prices can be higher if the figure is part of a special edition, has a signature, or is in pristine, unopened condition. For the most accurate current valuation, checking recent sold listings on platforms like eBay is recommended.
To authenticate a Wayne Gretzky Pop! Hockey figure, first verify that the packaging is a sealed, undamaged box with a legible barcode and the correct SKU number. Inspect the figure itself for consistent paint application, proper joint articulation, and the official Funko logo on the base, as counterfeit items often feature blurry printing or poor plastic quality. If the figure was purchased from a third-party marketplace, cross-reference the seller’s reputation and check for any signs of tampering on the box seal.
Funko does not publicly list specific release dates for individual Pop! figures in their official catalog, so the exact launch date for the Wayne Gretzky Pop! Hockey (SKU 32) is not reliably documented. While the figure is part of the early production run of the Hockey line, which began in 2016, precise month and day availability data is not available without speculation.
Funko has discontinued the Wayne Gretzky Pop! Hockey figure, meaning it is no longer in print and cannot be purchased new from the manufacturer. While the item is no longer produced, it remains available on the secondary market through resellers and collectors, where prices are typically higher than the original retail value.
Condition-checking a Wayne Gretzky Pop! Hockey involves inspecting the vinyl figure for surface scratches, paint chips, or "cherry-picking" on the face, and verifying that the acrylic window is free of cracks or significant scuffs. You should also check the base for any warping or damage, as these are common flaws in mass-produced vinyl collectibles. For a formal grade, you can submit the figure to a third-party grading service like PSA, which will encapsulate it and assign a numerical score based on its physical condition.
